About Me
It all started when...
I moved to Hawai'i at just a year old. My earliest childhood memories are of walking along the iron gates of 'Iolani Palace and playing in the dappled sunshine beneath monkeypod trees in Mililani. These memories stayed with me throughout the years, long after I moved from O'ahu in elementary school, and I always dreamed of moving back. My husband, Noz, and I made that dream a reality in 2010 when we moved to Honolulu after graduating from our respective master's programs at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. (Go Tar Heels!)
Community and public service are a big part of my life. I believe we all have the power to make a positive difference in our families, our communities and in our world. I try to live with a spirit of aloha and a foundation of faith, and I think of myself as an eternal optimist.
The very first night Noz and I met in college, Hawai'i was the primary topic of conversation. He had the same dream of making a home in Hawai'i, and we both have a deep connection to these islands. We feel beyond blessed to now be raising our two little girls, Isa and Mei, here. O'ahu's endless summer, beautiful natural wonders and unmatched cultural experiences make it such a fun place to raise our girls, though we do miss our family and friends on the East Coast.
Having spent a lot of time on that coast though, I do still have some Southern and East Coast sensibilities -- I say "ya'll" a lot and black is pretty much my favorite color.
